In Their Own Words
"I enrolled in the Budgeting program after my divorce and I wasn't sure what to expect. What struck me most was how David made space for the emotional reality of the situation β this wasn't just numbers on a spreadsheet, it was my life. I left with a workable plan and a follow-up call that was actually useful."

"I'd been contributing to a TFSA for years without really understanding what I was doing with it. After the Investment Accounts series, I finally feel like I understand the difference between account types and why it matters. The group format was also a surprise β hearing other people's questions helped me understand things I didn't even know I was confused about."

"The Estate Planning program gave me the vocabulary and the confidence to finally schedule a meeting with a lawyer I'd been putting off for two years. The workbook is genuinely useful β I've referred back to it several times since. Only reason it's four stars and not five is that I wished there were seven sessions instead of six β there was a lot of good material."

"My husband passed away two years ago and I suddenly found myself responsible for financial decisions I'd never handled before. I wasn't sure if the Budgeting program was the right fit, but Louise was straightforward and kind on the phone before I registered. The sessions were exactly what I needed β practical, unhurried, and respectful."

"I'd taken a continuing education finance course a few years ago and found it too abstract. The Investment Accounts series was different β everything was grounded in what Canadians actually deal with. I came away understanding my RRSP room and how it interacts with my pension in a way I hadn't before. Worth every dollar."

"My adult children encouraged me to take the Estate Planning program and I'm glad I listened to them. What I appreciated most was that it moved slowly enough for me to actually absorb the material β I'm 67 and I don't love being rushed. The digital organizer toolkit has become something I return to regularly."

Case Study β Budgeting for Life Transitions
The Starting Point
A woman in her mid-fifties who had recently separated from her partner of 22 years. She had never managed the household finances independently and described feeling overwhelmed by basic decisions β whether to change her bank accounts, how to handle jointly held assets, and whether her monthly income would cover her expenses.
The Process
She attended both sessions of the Budgeting for Life Transitions program over two weeks and completed the budgeting template exercises between them. The 30-day follow-up call gave her an opportunity to ask questions that arose after the sessions, once she'd had time to apply what she'd learned to her actual accounts.
The Outcome
By the 30-day follow-up, she had established her own accounts, built a working budget with a three-month view, and identified two recurring expenses she was able to renegotiate. She described feeling "like a capable adult with a plan" β her words, not ours.
Case Study β Investment Accounts Series
The Starting Point
A retired teacher in his early sixties with a defined benefit pension but no significant savings outside of it. He had a TFSA he'd contributed to sporadically and had avoided opening an RRSP because the terminology felt opaque. He wanted to understand whether he was making the most of what he had.
The Process
He completed all four sessions of the Investment Accounts series over six weeks, taking notes and doing the comparison exercises. By session three, he described understanding his TFSA contribution room for the first time. The fourth session brought together everything he'd learned into a coherent personal framework.
The Outcome
Following the program, he met with a fee-only financial planner for the first time and described the experience as "completely different β I actually understood what they were talking about." He reorganized his TFSA holdings and established a clear annual contribution plan.
Case Study β Estate & Legacy Planning
The Starting Point
A couple in their early seventies who had an estate lawyer but had never used the digital organizer or reviewed their beneficiary designations since opening accounts decades ago. One partner had recently been diagnosed with a progressive illness, giving the topic a new and pressing dimension.
The Process
Both attended the six-session Estate and Legacy Planning program, completing the workbook exercises together at home between sessions. They found it useful to be in a group with others at a similar life stage β the conversations were thoughtful and the atmosphere was calm.
The Outcome
After completing the program, they updated beneficiary designations on four accounts, organized their essential documents using the digital toolkit, and scheduled a meeting with their lawyer armed with specific, prepared questions. They described the experience as "a relief β it reduced the weight of this considerably."
